Volunteer

The SAUK head office team is very small so we are always looking for volunteers who can offer time and skills to help with the running of the charity. Whether it be through offering support to our members or by giving a helping hand in the office, there are a number of ways that you could volunteer with SAUK.

We love to hear from people with specific skills, from graphic design, social media, film and IT skills to journalism and legal knowledge. We also need people to help out with particular tasks in the office such as Christmas card orders during busy times  so please get in touch if you would like to help out either on a regular basis or as a one-off.

If you have a story to tell we are always on the look out for people to write personal accounts about their experiences of scoliosis for our magazine Backbone or the website. So, whether you have lived with scoliosis for years, want to talk about an experience such as bracing or surgery or to share something you have found helpful we want to hear from you!

One of the main ways that people can get involved on a regular basis is by supporting others through our regional representative network.

A Regional Representatives main role is to support other members in their area, through email, using the Facebook support group, or meeting for a cup of tea and a chat or a virtual meeting.

Depending on the time volunteers have to dedicate to the role, there is also the opportunity to arrange meet-ups and activities for local members, run fundraising/awareness raising events, support groups, and to speak up for scoliosis with local GPs. The SAUK team will support you in these activities and you are encouraged to team up with other local volunteers.

Applications for Regional Representatives are currently paused.
