SAUK Stanmore meeting 28 September 2002

The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore is always a popular venue for SAUK meetings, and this was one of our largest meetings so far with over 120 members attending.

The talks by Mr David Harrison, FRCS, and his team - Sheila Pillai, BSc PT, and Angela Ray, BSc OT, on "The Management of Infantile Development of Scoliosis", "The Management of Scoliosis in Adults" and "Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Intervention" were excellent.

Mr Harrison kindly stayed on to chair the lively panel discussion that followed the talks. As usual, it was a great opportunity for members to meet, chat and exchange information.

The feedback later from the meeting was encouraging. One member, anxious about her daughter's forthcoming surgery, said: "The day gave me hope, and what felt like an insurmountable ordeal now seems manageable."

In addition to the members, four SAUK Trustees were present: Mr Alan Gardner, FRCS, Mr Michael Edgar FRCS, Mrs Ailie Harrison and Mrs Carol Richards.

Everyone was most generous - our raffle raised over £100. Many thanks to all who attended.
