LEARN TO SAIL ON BOARD JOHN LAING!

Do you have scoliosis?  Would you like the chance of a lifetime of learning to sail a yacht?

Ocean Youth Trust South is a Southampton-based charity which runs adventure sailing voyages for deserving young people from different backgrounds in its 72-foot boat, John Laing.

The age range for the voyages is 12 to 25, but there are some more adventurous voyages for those aged 16 and over.

Voyages are fun from March to November every year and vary from 12-day races to Spain through to local Weekend trips around the British Isles.

There are places for up to 12 young people on every voyage, with five or six trained adult staff and volunteers.

If you are interested or would like to nominate someone for a funded place on a voyage, please apply to Caroline White at office@oytsouth.org with the following information:

bullet Name and contact details of the nominated individual (address, phone and email)
bullet A paragraph on why you/they deserve a funded place
bullet Age (must be 12 to 25)
bullet Details of physical fitness
bullet Any other special needs
bullet Availability to sail: school/college holidays only, or term time as well? Could you/they sail at short notice if a vacancy comes up?

No sailing experience is needed and full tuition (including certificates of achievement) is provided.  John Laing is skippered by experienced professional sailor, Mark Todd, who himself has scoliosis.
