Youth Committee
In March, 2008, SAUK set up a new youth committee to focus on developing the support that is given to young people affected by scoliosis. The committee consists of young SAUK members Sayo Addous, Jack Mayorcas, Holly Bishop, volunteer Graphic Designer Trevor Sylvester and Rachel Hannam SAUK Project Manager.
The committee meets a minimum of twice a year and discusses how SAUK can provide our support of young people with scoliosis. There is a regular, dedicated section in Backbone, the SAUK newsletter, dedicated to young people. So far it has been successful in arranging free tickets for young people to go to see the Lion King in London and has changed the way that membership information is collected so that it provides better support for young people. Future projects include a range of fun days which are being funded by a very generous grant from Strongbones Children’s Charitable Trust.
