Watch out for scoliosis

In the early 90’s, SAUK ran a campaign called ‘Watch out for scoliosis’. The aims of this campaign were to raise awareness of scoliosis among health professionals and the general public, and to ensure that patients were referred to a scoliosis specialist and that treatment was given promptly. The organisation produced a poster outlining the signs of scoliosis and emphasising prompt referral. The posters were translated into Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. The Trustees sent a letter to 32,500 GP’s across the UK to raise awareness of the condition and to bridge the information gap. In 1996, SAUK secured a Department of Health (DOH) project grant for 3 years to support the campaign.
