Heat and cold
Heat is an effective muscular pain reliever. It can be applied via hot baths and showers, steam rooms, hot water bottles or heating pads. Cold treatments (cryotherapy) in the form of cold packs or ice massage can also help to combat pain. The heat or cold source should be applied to the painful area for 15-20 minutes for maximum effect. Both treatments provide a successful, albeit temporary, means of pain relief.
